I firmly believe that governments should take stronger action to reduce food waste.
First and foremost, discarded food places an enormous burden on the environment. For instance, rotting food in landfills releases methane, a powerful greenhouse gas. Consequently, less waste would mean significantly lower national emissions.
Furthermore, wasting food while many households struggle financially is difficult to justify. A notable example is France, where large supermarkets must donate unsold food to charities. As a result, thousands of families receive meals that would otherwise be thrown away.
Admittedly, such regulations increase costs for retailers; however, these expenses are small compared with the social and environmental benefits. For these reasons, I am convinced that governments should play a far more active role in reducing food waste.

パターンA（認めて反論）：
